The New Motorola Defy
The Motorola Defy has been flying under the radar as another new Android phone. Why, then, is it making such a big splash in the news? The greatness of the Motorola Defy has two parts - durability and price. This highly affordable phone is incredibly rugged and convenient. It has already been announced for release in Europe, and it was just announced that it will be available in the US on T-Mobile starting November 3rd.
The phone is set to cost just $99.99, which is remarkably cheap compared to many of the other Android phones, which are at least $150-200, with some much more than that (especially when they aren't subsidized). This will be one of the cheapest Android phones which will bring Android to more people out there. The phone is also very durable. Its screen is made out of Gorilla Glass, meaning that it can resist impacts, scratches, and bumps. Also, the phone's tight case is water-resistant and dust proof, making is safe in almost any situation. For such a cheap phone, the Defy is well made and will last for a long time.
The phone's screen is a 3.7" WVGA touch screen, which is on the nicer / higher end of Android phones. It will be released running Android 2.1 (the current version is 2.2) customized with Motorola's Blur UI. The phone runs Adobe Flash Lite, so you can view Flash content on the web. It has a decent 5 MP camera.
If you plan on getting a Motorola Defy, you will probably want to consider getting some Motorola Defy accessories as well. You may not need a case to protect the rugged Defy, but you may still want a Motorola Defy case to clip on to your belt or to make it easy to travel with the large phone. You will definitely want a Motorola Defy charger to keep your phone powered while on the go. Large phones like this which have powerful processors and big screen use up a lot of battery, so consider having a car charger to take while you are traveling.
Overall, the Motorola Defy is an amazing phone. It's not the best phone in terms of new features but it's still a versatile phone for recreational use. It's the remarkable durability, and the incredible price, that make the Motorola Defy one of the most anticipated upcoming phones. It's a great phone for the average consumer who doesn't want to spend too much on a phone or worry about a complicated phone, but who still wants all the benefits of an Android based smartphone. The Defy has the potential to dramatically increase Android’s market share because of its low price.
How do I extend the battery life on my motorola Q?
My battery used to last for about 4 days, and now I have a hard time getting 2 days out of it? The phone is about 6 months old. Is there a way to calibrate the battery? What should I do?
Hello,
Here's a few battery savings tips for your Q?
Set your synchronization schedule
You can set your phone to automatically synchronize with your PC at time intervals that you specify, so that auto-synch doesn't interfere with your peak usage time. This is particularly useful if you have a third-party e-mail client with push e-mail.
1. Press Start
2. Select ActiveSync
3. Press Menu
4. Scroll down and select Schedule
5. Scroll down to Peak Times
6. Scroll right to choose the right option for your needs.
Note: Battery life is conserved with longer periods of time between synching.
7. Repeat above for Off-Peak Times
8. Press Done
Use your screen dimmer
Set your screen to automatically dim after your phone is idle for a certain period.
1. Press Start
2. Scroll to and select Settings
3. Scroll to and select More
4. Scroll to and select Power Management
5. Scroll to Backlight Time Out on Battery
6. Scroll left to decrease the time delay from 10 seconds to 5 seconds
7. Press Done
Disable Bluetooth connectivity when not in use
When you're not using your Bluetooth® headset and accessories, you can easily turn this function off.
1. Press Start
2. Scroll to and select Bluetooth
3. Select Bluetooth Manager
4. Scroll to and select Settings
5. Highlight Status
6. Scroll left to deactivate Bluetooth on your device
7. Press Done
Control the number of applications running
You can minimize the number of applications that run at one time.
1. Press Start
2. Scroll to and select System Tools
3. Scroll to Task Manager
4. Scroll to the application you would like to end
5. Press Menu and select Kill for that single application or Kill All to end all running applications
Hope this helps
Droid RAZR MAXX appears in Verizon Wireless inventory, details remain mysterious (Engadget)
Leave it to Motorola to milk the iconic RAZR branding for all it's worth. A
new LTE phone has appeared in Verizon's inventory system, and dubbed the Droid
RAZR MAXX, it seems to be at least a spiritual successor to the original
MotoRAZR MAXX. Little else is known about the device, other than some EXIF
data that hints at a similar 8 megapixel shooter. Like the variants we've seen
floating around in China, could this option be sporting a 720p display?
Perhaps a beefier battery? Or maybe it's just "maxxxxed" out with a few design
tweaks and a slightly higher price. Place your bets while the gamblin' is
good, folks. Soon enough, we're going to know what makes this one tick.
