The Proper Procedure In Fixing The Handbrake Cable Of A Vehicle
Typically, your vehicle's parking brakes do not need adjustment because they've got this self-adjusting system. Yet you'll notice that years of use could prompt manual handbrake cable adjustments. Common accessories involve a control cable, pedal or lever, adjusting device, equalizer bar, and application cables.
To fully set the foot brake pedals in place, start the engine and step on the brake pedal a few times. Shut off the engine after doing that. Lift the back of your vehicle using a floor jack. A pair of jack stands will hold the car. The front wheels need to be secured. Try out the parking brake by pushing it about three notches and then pay attention to the three clicks each and every time you step on the brake pedal.
For Foot Brake System
Find the brake equalizer bar, which is somewhere beneath the car or truck. This can be seen in the middle of the underside of a car. This particular equalizer bar or yoke secures the brake cables that are actually attached to the back wheel brakes. Loosen its nut by using a wrench, although this may be inapplicable in some designs, specifically those which have no locknuts.
Vehicles without locknuts have turnbuckles instead, so you can't use a wrench to twist them. Turnbuckles might be turned by using a pair of pliers to help you tighten the contact of the brake cable. Using your hands, turn the two back tires. When done properly, you will be able to feel the dragging action of the brake shoes resistant to the brake drum. Perform more adjustments to the turnbuckles or nut. This is oftentimes a trial-and-error process.
For Lever Type
What you really need to do is actually take out the console trim that covers the brake handle. In case you aren't certain exactly how this is done, check out the guide book considering that the process may vary from one vehicle to another. Fasten the shifting nuts, which you actually find at the base of the hand lever. Use a deep socket and rachet, and be sure you get rid of the unnecessary slack on the handbrake cable. You must feel a feeble drag of the brake shoes towards the brake drum whenever you twist the rear tires manually. In the event that you don’t experience the light drag, perform some more corrections to the nuts, and then check the rear wheels again. Put back the control unit trim into position.
The process is not done yet. You need to examine the parking brake. Let lose the parking brake lever or pedal. In some cases, you need to do readjustments, and this can be relatively important since you need to ensure that the system is working properly. This can be tiresome at times, especially if you must go through examining different parts, such as the nuts or the clutch cable. Lastly, it's important to give the car or truck a test drive. Properly functioning parking brakes should be able to hold the vehicle in place as quickly as possible.
How much of a performance hit would I incur going from a 75 foot ethernet cable to a 100 foot ethernet cable?
dunno if I am going with cat5e or cat6
sub question: what is considered qualtiy cable that might be better for longer runs?
Ethernet can typically go 100 meters without any help, and 100 ft is about 1/3rd of that, so there should not be any noticeable difference between that and 75 ft.
