What Real Estate Flyers Won't Tell You
If someone walks up to you offering a flyer, chances are you're not going to take it. What's the point? It's always the same strongly colored piece of paper trying to get you to buy the latest vacuum or to go and see the latest open mic band. While maybe they work on some people, but for the most part no one wants to deal with the hassle of them: carrying, disposing, whatever. We want less. Odds are though, you've also never not read one because you didn't know it was something like a real estate flyer, something that may, in the smallest capacity, apply to your life.
Although, who can really be blamed for not taking the time to read all the flyers in the mix. The main point to be made, is that, in general, a quick scan might not hurt.
What's specific about the subject of real estate is the curious nature of a realtor needing to advertise. As we know, it is a buyer's market out there, not a seller's. Chances are realtors would be overspilling withe clients on both end: those buying cheap, and those trying not to sell cheap.
Unfortunately, in this instance we'd be very wrong to assume what exactly a real estate flyer is indicating.
When we receive a flyer, we essentially have the same old information we always do. There are email addresses plastered all over, phone numbers, facsimile contacts, and sometimes even chat names.
After that, the routine is due to be that you, the consumer, must take it upon yourself to have a need for the product or company and then be ready to pay for it. That is the goal in short, right?
In the case of real estate though, the trend is actually a completely different story--a much more satisfying story.
As a result of the present economic recession, real estate companies have needed to find more enticing ways to bring in a larger clientele of business. As a way to manage this, they've gone to conversational incentives. That's to say, that the paper flyer you received may not give a condition, but by mentioning it as the method of referral, you're going to receive something special.
First, what you'll want to do is research the company that has supplied the flyer. It doesn't have to be on any specific terms, just a quick glance of a website and maybe if you're able to find any customer reviews. There's no real point to taking an incentive if it's going to be backed by a shoddy relationship, that's not the point. There couldn't be a possible motivator for suffering through a partnership that isn't going to prove worthwhile for the future.
As long as everything with the business seems in order and you're not having any reservations, go after them! Instead of going out of your way to get a hold of them though, just phone them. An easy call on a lunch break will do the trick. A quick introduction and mention of how exactly you knew to get a hold of them will lead to exactly what you were chancing on. Just be prepared for those envious looks, because you just used those real estate flyers they had taken for granted.

Any suggestions for what external mic I should buy for my Canon XL2?
I have acquired a Canon XL2 camcorder for making short films and the like. I'd like to buy a good external mic for recording dialogue and so on, but can't afford to spend more than about £250-£300 tops, including windshield, pole etc (although I'm happy to buy 2nd hand).
What would people suggest is the best all-round option open to me?
At that price range you can't do wireless mics, so that's out of the question. So you will have to go shotgun and boom.
I'm adding links to some great articles and test done on different mics from different price ranges. There are some great mics in your price range. Take care.
